For carriers and service providers, one of the biggest difficulties is managing millions of devices with a variety of multi-vendors to save costs in the most effective way. With experience in designing and implementing telecommunications systems, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has built the ONE Telco device management platform to solve this problem...

According to a representative of the product development team, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Industry Technology Joint Stock Company (VNPT Technology) - a member of VNPT, with the outbreak of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is urgent to optimize the management and operation of equipment elements (internet of things) on telecommunications network infrastructure. Normally, to provide IoT services, carriers and service providers face a lot of challenges such as managing devices from many different vendors on one platform, managing services and subscribers, increase average revenue per user (ARPU) or reduce operating costs to optimize costs… From these problems, VNPT Technology engineers have built a device management platform known as ONE Telco with the goal of supporting multi-category, multi-modal, multi-vendor management.

However, to ensure the compatibility of this product, the development team has carried out actual testing before it is released to the market. Along with that, the product continues to be upgraded to integrate management of more types of devices and update and optimize technology. To date, the platform has been deployed to many domestic and international carriers, and continues to be expanded to manage IoT devices and meet new customer requirements.

More specifically, Mr. Nguyen Viet Bang, Deputy General Director of VNPT Technology, said that the ONE Telco device management platform has been put into operation by VNPT Group since 2017, helping the Group solve the biggest challenge in device management. Currently, ONE Telco helps VNPT manage nearly 8 million devices, and the successful implementation of the device management system has helped the Group significantly reduce operating costs. Not only that, with the ability to monitor the status, remote software updates for a large number of devices, it have completely replaced manual updating, helping to pinpoint the exact location and status of errors.

VNPT Technology's leader said, because it is provided with many unique features and unlimited scalability, not only widely applied on VNPT network, ONE Telco has also been chosen by many foreign customers. Currently, the platform has been used by a number of international carriers in Thailand, Indonesia, and Myanmar (currently serving management of nearly 10 million devices). During the implementation process, positive feedback has been received.

The successful research and development of ONE Telco has brought significant economic benefits to carriers and service providers. This platform can completely replace the device management software of global brands such as Nokia, Huawei, etc., saving millions of dollars in licensing costs from foreign firms; At the same time, thanks to the ability to fully own the product, VNPT is ready to update and customize the product according to the specific needs of customers at a much lower cost than ordering from equipment manufacturers. Not only managing terminal devices, the platform has the ability to integrate and manage many other types of devices, creating favourable conditions for businesses to expand the service chain on existing infrastructure.

In addition, from actual needs, deploying ONE Telco has brought many benefits to customers such as optimizing error repair time, optimizing repair labor costs and customer support. Up to now, the platform is still continuing to be optimized and updated to promptly and effectively meet the new requirements of customers.
